Visual - "one a decade or so younger.

It is all about demographics.

If you think Foo Fighters is for the older folks

David Grohl was born in 1969, I'd imagine most of his audience is around his age, +/- 10 years or so. Still an important demographic for SB advertisers, but they'd probably prefer one a decade or so younger.

Philo - "how about the worst"

Dead kid.

That was a real bummer.

That pill going into the car was second worst.

I wonder how many parents nationwide had to hem and haw when their 8 and 9 year olds asked what it meant?

When you have the Beast and need one yard to win back to back Super Bowls, it does not matter if they knew the Beast would run. He would gain one yard. Period.

@gotalife

I completely agree. It was a breathtaking call and it will go down as one of the most infamous ones.

Saw a couple of posts about the best commercials, how about the worst?

Worst, EVAH, in the history of SB Commercials: Dead kids, Nationwide.

Distant runner-up: This Land is Your Land, One-worlders.

The decision to pass was just a coach out smarting himself.

gotalife - "game over"

Maybe.

But if the Patriots had held, the coach would be criticized for not trying a surprise play.

Headly - "he wouldn't have the freedom to write such a song behind a communist countries' wall.

That is correct.

Of course you know that kind of truth is ignored by the true believers here and elsewhere.

The Seattle coach said he knew the Patriots were expecting a run.

He tried to fool them with a pass.

It didn't work.

If it had, he would be being called great instead of stupid.

@straker I know, he tried to get cute and ran a risky play. No need to get cute and just run ole reliable Lynch for one yard. Game over.

@gotalife @straker I could see passing on 4th down.

But on second down they would have had to stop Lynch at least two more times.

He would have scored on one of them.

As far as the silly ads to buy corporate crap.

Ted II made me laugh.

Both teams played their best football.

One Coach made one bad play call.

The rookie thought he would get blamed for that circus like catch so he jumped the route to win the game.

And, you make a great Monday morning quarterback.

@straker The whole world thought Beast would get the ball again.

Run the Beast for one yard stupid.

Dumbest end of a Super Bowl ever.

One yard away from back to back greatness.

B, I read where one bettor had a 7 digit bet on the Pats.

Can you imagine how tight his sphincter was right before the StupidHawks made him some big money???

@gotalife I had NE, so I liked the play call just fine.  ; > }

@JamVet @Bruno2 @gotalife That kind of adrenaline rush is what keeps the gambling junkies in the game, even if they lose overall.  Many of the high level poker players lose at sports wagering.

Just imagine if you had a 7 figure bet the other way??

ABC:  "Pakistani Teachers Learning to Fight Back After School Massacre"

"The local government in Pakistan's Peshawar Province has agreed to allow teachers to carry licensed weapons into the classroom, following the December Taliban massacre at a school there that left nearly 150 people dead.

Over the past two weeks, the provincial government has launched firearms training workshops for teachers.

The hope is that the teachers could, at the very least, slow potential attackers until police arrive, government officials told ABC News."

Visual - "cameo for the older folks"

If you think Foo Fighters is for the older folks, maybe you'd like to see Justin Bieber?

The "This Land Is Yours and Mine" ad naturally left out some important lines.

I roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts;
All around me a voice was a-sounding;
This land was made for you and me.

There was a high wall there that tried to stop me
A sign was painted said "Private Property"
But on the backside it didn't say nothin'
This land was made for you and me.

When the sun came shining, and I was strolling;
the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling.
A voice was chanting, the fog was lifting
This land was made for you and me.

@LeninTime You are right

Guthrie was a communist too.

The irony of course he wouldn't have the freedom to write such a song behind a communist countries wall.

@LeninTime

That middle verse was used by those who would paint him as a Communist.

A powerful song, reminiscent of "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall."

He was not the only one to take those stances who were not Communists per se,,,did you ever see/hear his appearance before HUAC?  That's why I asked for  citation...

VC: Thus, maybe next year Weezer gets to do a two minute version of "Buddy Holly" or perhaps Radiohead gets to do a couple verses of "Paranoid Android."

Maybe they could put the New York Dolls back together for you, VC.  LOL  Another dream group for me at halftime would be to see Genesis.  I guess King Crimson would be a little far out for most viewers.

FWIW, I thought having Kravitz trade verses on "I Kissed a girl" was pretty cool, actually.
