Netanyahu, Boehner caught in web of their own deceit

boehner_netanyahu_ap_660-1Vice President Joe Biden has found a “previously scheduled” foreign trip that will prevent him from presiding over a controversial congressional address next month by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Good for him.

In another interesting development, Netanyahu’s administration is now playing victim, publicly suggesting that it had been duped into the speech by House Speaker John Boehner.

“It appears that the speaker of Congress made a move, in which we trusted, but which it ultimately became clear was a one-sided move and not a move by both sides,” Deputy Israeli Foreign Minister Tzachi Hanegbi told an Israeli radio station. As a result, he said, Israel is now making “a huge effort to make clear to them that this is not a move that flouts the president of the United States.”

I’m not buying it. The man who secretly negotiated the speech with Boehner, Israeli ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer, is a former GOP campaign operative with a sophisticated knowledge of American politics. He knew exactly what he was doing. Dermer also had a long meeting with White House officials just before announcement of the speech, yet oddly chose not to reveal a word about it. In fact, Dermer’s role in the speech is fueling calls in the Israeli press for his firing.

Netanyahu’s hope has been to use the speech to help his chances in an Israeli election two weeks later, and to push the United States against its will into a military assault on Iran’s nuclear-weapons program. President Obama has not taken that option off the table, but he has concluded that it is in America’s best interest to try every other option first, including on-going negotiation with Iran.

Netanyahu and Boehner, each for their own self-interest, arranged the address in an effort to undermine the president on a crucial foreign policy issue, breaking a number of diplomatic, political and constitutional norms in the process. They got too cute and too cynical, and are paying the price.

Good.

When is Boehner going to invite the other candidates who are running against Natanyahu? Maybe he can get ole Rince Prebus to set up a debate with little clown cars before a joint session of congress to imitate GOP debates?

ISIS on a 'Different Level' Than al Qaeda, Says Retired General John Allen

"The retired Marine Corps general at the forefront of the U.S.-led coalition in the fight against ISIS told ABC News in an exclusive interview that the terror group “is at an entirely different level than al Qaeda was.”

ISIS is "better organized [than al Qaeda]. It’s command and control is better,” John Allen, the Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIS, told ABC News.

When asked whether ISIS is a threat to the home front, Allen said “we should take it very seriously."

Because they knew that in a few years Reagan would illegally sell them weapons?

Reagan secretly and illegally sold missels to Iran to fund another secret and illegal war in Central America. Can you imagine how the right wing would lather up and rave if President Obama did the same thing?

Worth re-posting since certain people clearly have such difficulty getting it into their head.

If Obama treated Israel like Reagan did, he’d be impeached

Former President Ronald Reagan’s confrontations with Israel were harsh and personal, yet Republican conservatives revere him and the Jews remember him as a great friend.

Imagine if Israel would launch a successful preemptive strike against a country that is building a nuclear bomb that threatens its very existence, and the American president would describe it as “a tragedy”.

And then, not only would the U.S. administration fail to “stand by its ally”, as Republicans pledged this week, but it would actually lend its hand to a UN Security Council decision that condemns Israel, calls on it to place its nuclear facilities under international supervision and demands that it pay reparations (!) for the damage it had wrought.

And then, to add insult to injury, the U.S. president would impose an embargo on further sales of F-16 aircraft because Israel had “violated its commitment to use the planes only in self-defense”.

Can you imagine the uproar? Can you contemplate the brouhaha? I mean, if Mitt Romney believes that President Obama “threw Israel under the bus” just for suggesting that a peace settlement with Israel be based on the 1967 borders - what would he say about a president who actually turns his back on Israel in its greatest time of need? That he hurled Israel over the cliff with a live grenade in its pocket and into a burning volcano?

NEVER AGAIN !

"This short video (an ad for an upcoming documentary) holds the key to Israel's survival as a nation back in May 1948. The Arab nations were within 10 miles of Tel Aviv, with a 10,000 man force, ready to totally destroy the new country of Israel.  All that stood in the way were four Messerschmitt BF-109's left behind by the Nazis in the Czech Republic, hurriedly assembled in hangers and never test flown, and piloted by volunteer American (Jewish) pilots. I can't wait to see the documentary.I hope you enjoy this short video.

A TRUE STORY, NOT KNOWN BY MANY . . .The only FOUR (4) Airplanes Israel had when the War of Independence  (May 1948) began were smuggled in from Czech Republic. They were German Messerschmitt bf-109's.  They were assembled overnight in Tel Aviv and were never flight tested. This is a short video about their pilots.

You will not be disappointed.

Maybe you could make some kind of proposal to the White House to offer to help the president in these areas. You could possibly earn a significant income, but knowing what a patriot you are, you'd probably insist on doing it pro bono. If there are any two things that you can do, one of them is working with others, and the other is getting things done.

BTW, the last time I talked to you (my link to a post on HuffPo about how to become a decent human being), you rewarded my hospitality by accusing me of being a lazy moocher, or something of the sort. I didn't find your response to my six-something am post until after five that afternoon.

In the meantime, I had put up (with two helpers) over thirty boards of 4'X8' of oriented strand board on a cathedral ceiling, staged over seventeen hundred square feet of 1X6 tongue and groove bead board, ordered the drywall, joint compound, screws, corner bead, and variflex for the job, and put the drywall contractor off one more day after the HVAC contractor asked me to give him an extra day to complete his work on the split-zone system we're installing.

I couldn't help wondering how productive you had been that day.

MSM absolutely hated him, Dems lied to his face, but he was always positive, because he knew America was exceptional, a shining city, a beacon to the oppressed everywhere.

Now we have a "leader" who travels the world apologizing for our greatness, wishing we would be humbled in the eyes of our enemies.
