What day is it again?

If I didn’t know better, I would think this is Friday the 13th or something. Because the post that I spent all morning writing just vanished into the ether.

"only bothers our RWers when its a perceived 'liberal media' guy"

I"m still waiting for Congress to repeal Obamacare, like all the Republicans running for election and re-election promised they would.

Looks like they're waiting for the Supreme Court to do it for them.

If the Court upholds Obamacare, and Congress does not repeal, think any of the cons here will say anything, or even notice?

@straker

The RNC website says they're gonna dismantle the IRS, too!  Both should happen any day now, I bet!

In the latest selfiestickgate, the President blames Obama.

Very funny.

If it was not the thick of General Assembly season, I'd suggest going straight to the Valentine's Weekend music and going home.

Scott Walker raised Wisconsin educators' eyebrows late last month when he told an Iowa audience that the 2010 "outstanding teacher of the year in my state" was laid off to make room for a teacher protected by union rules.

This was one of the reasons he fought so hard for Act 10 — his "bold way" of dismantling teachers unions and their contracts — Walker told the impressed Iowa Republican audience.

Many in Wisconsin education circles suspected the governor was telling yet another of his trademark fibs.

And, indeed, he was. On Jan. 28, Jud Lounsbury published "Myth Busting Scott Walker's 'Outstanding Teacher of the Year' Got Fired Story" on Daily Kos. Lounsbury looked into the actual award and the fate of the teacher in Walker's story, and concluded Walker's words were mostly fiction.

@KUTGF  It was for "an outstanding first-year teacher of the English language arts." - Like that makes all the difference in the world. Facts are the same, an OUTSTANDING teacher is gone. Does the particular name of the award really make all that much difference? Of course we all know how objective the DailyKos is.

KUTGF
KUTGF

@InTheMiddle2 @KUTGF  Yes it does make a difference and we all know how non-objective you are.  A first year teacher would be expected to be the first to go.  Here is part of the letter (NOT WRITTEN BY DAILYKOS) from a real outstanding teacher of the year:

And so, as one of the bonafide 2010-2011 Wisconsin Teachers of the Year, I feel the need to engage in one of the most valuable skills we teach our students, critical analysis.

Verified by multiple news sources, it turns out that Megan Sampson did win an award in 2010, but it was the Nancy Hoefs Memorial Award given by a relatively small organization of Wisconsin English teachers (WCTE) for “an outstanding first year teacher of language arts.” She was one of less than a dozen teachers across the state who self-nominated for this award.

You failed to mention these details as you used Sampson’s lay-off from her first year teaching position as an opportunity to bash Wisconsin schools on the national stage. You blamed the seniority system for Sampson’s lay-off when, in good conscience, you should have done some serious soul searching and placed the blame squarely on your systematic defunding of public education to the tune of $2.6 billion that you cut from school districts, state aid to localities, the UW-System and technical colleges.

"Cue the "you can keep your doctor" tripe". No need for us to bring it up when you already brought up the Politifact lie of the year for us. Or was it the "you can keep your plan" that was the Politifact lie of the year? I can't remember. So many lies its hard to keep up with them all LOL!

@Doggone_GA

The teacher won a teaching award. If Walker got the facts wrong on how big or how small the award was is it really that big a deal? Seriously? Is that really all you guys got?

That so called "lie" hurts no one and pales in comparison to Obama's lies about one's basic health care and whether or not someone can keep their doctor or keep their health plan.

Its no surprise that you guys can't seem to understand the difference in scale and proportion. Scale and proportion. It gets the progs every time.

@Doom Classical liberal @KUTGF @InTheMiddle2  Ah sweetie, did your calendar break?  Hump day was 2 days ago......  You really have nothing about the lie told by Walker do you.  Just more of your nonsense and posts of stupidity.

@KUTGF

"No the crux of the lie is the "first year" not the name and the cause of the layoff which was Walker's budget cuts."

And if that's what has your ire raised the most you shoulda just said so from the git go.

" You lie as usual."

We couldn't see that coming- keep yet again throwing out the baseless claim that someone else is lying. Go ahead keep. Show us all specifically where I lied and how it was a lie. Go ahead. I triple dog dare ya!

" You really are posting buffoonish nonsense."

I see you're back to your usual argument of just screaming that someone else or their posts are stupid, buffoonish, etc. Good grief.

@Nick_Danger @Doggone_GA @Doom Classical liberal check out http://doggonega.blogspot.com/ ... all of the falls on there can be done in one day from NE GA, at any rate.  And if you look down the right-hand side, there's very detailed instructions for a day trip that goes to 18 waterfalls in one day, some hiking (1 mile total) and the others roadside.

And I'm sorry, I don't remember about the waterfall you mention

Well, while waiting on you to post, Jay, I've been listening to some slide-guitar just to get in the mood. And here's the best of the morning, a little film by Pissed-Off Poodle Productions about Rat Cars - perfect for today.

Meanwhile, thank you for what you do, Sir, and may the rest of your day be much, much  better.

@alexander2  Been know for some time.  You can bing "dog genius" and see some of the experiments.  1/10" eye movement.  Dogs have been evolving alongside humans as a human companion for thousands of years.  They have the mentality of a 5 year old in many cases and recent studies indicate they may be smarter than dolphins.  They also have the capacity to learn words.

Perhaps hit select all, Ctrl C before hitting submit in case the there is a word the filter does not like. Then Ctrl v and it is back.

I still shudder to think of that time, years ago, I'd headed to the office on a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning to get some extra work in under deadline--work that I was sure I'd saved, mind you--only to have the software lock up and the file corrupted, destroying about five hours' effort.

I just sat on the steps in the front of the building, watched the traffic, and thought about playing in it before going back to re-assemble what'd been lost.

@Visual_Cortex I did that once in an earlier version of DASD storage when one could actually retrieve a lost pointer and return and entire file to active storage.  Now, storage is scattered and makes that very difficult.

Seriously though, Jay, that's gotta hurt--I'm sure that you had every reason to think that the text was being backed up by whatever gee-whiz platform thing you were typing on.

Might want to consider drafting this stuff in MS Word for DOS or something similarly stable, first.

@Visual_Cortex

I've done it a few times myself.  Swearing at the PC has not been proven effective at retrieving lost work.  Trust me, I've tried very hard.
