Jeb! (Bush) officially enters the 2016 campaign field

o-JEB-facebookIn a speech in Miami scheduled for this afternoon, Jeb Bush — aka Jeb! — finally announces his candidacy for president of the United States.

Here’s a video that his campaign put together as a preview:

— In case you didn’t notice, Jeb!’s selling himself as a conservative. That’s actually the title of the video: “Conservative.” The approach attempts to address the fact that the former Florida governor last ran for elective office back in 2002, and the definition of “conservative” has changed a bit since then.

— One thing that I hadn’t quite registered earlier: Jeb!’s body language and hand gestures can be eerily reminiscent of his brother, George W.

— “The federal government has no role in the setting of (education) standards, either directly or indirectly,” Bush says sternly, an effort to downplay his record in support of Common Core, which much of the GOP base now deems an effort by the federal government to take over state and local education.

— He takes much the same tack on immigration reform, stressing border control and law and order while acknowledging that we won’t be deporting 11 million people, and that granting them legal status will be necessary. He’s right in terms of policy, but we’ll see how well that message goes over with GOP primary voters.

— The shorthand economic message appears to be that “the failed tax policies, the failed regulation policies” of Democrats are the source of income inequality and reduced opportunity. The base may buy that argument, but then again, they’re presold on it. I’m not sure that’s going to sell real well with voters in general next year. After all, the policies in effect leading up to the economic collapse of 2008 — tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, etc., — surely can’t be described as Democratic, not after eight years with a Republican in the White House. (What was the president’s name back then? I’m sure somebody will remind us.)

— All in all, the video is artfully edited to give Bush a dynamism and forcefulness that I’m not sure comes naturally.

— The harder that Jeb! has to sell himself as a conservative during the primaries, the harder it will be to downplay that label should he survive into the general election. And judging from this campaign video, his strategists think they have no choice but the hard sell.

Me and millions of others say that Jeb needs to identify more with his brother. History is already being kind to the success of George W. Bush's role in The War on Terror. It's proven now that The Surge worked and Iraq, which was ruled by thuggery, was on the path to democracy. How many remember that success what with the very successful voting that took place there? I remember millions around the world smiling and saying that the honorable President George W. Bush showed strong leadership by doing the right thing. Evil was destroyed under our very competent president who proudly served us with intelligence, grace and humility from 2001-2009.

Suddenly we went from a free nation in the U.S. to a clear dictatorship and we lost our way ever since.

So, Jeb needs to proudly say that he's a Bush. Like I will always say-whether it's Jeb, the gorgeous Ms. Fiorina, Dr. Carson, Mr. Trump or any of the other rightful Republican candidates, any of them will be far better than The Billary Crime Family.

Amen,

Bill

the father of a man who opened fire on Dallas police headquarters blames liberal policies for his son’s obsessive anger.

“Every one of us has a breaking point,” said Jim Boulware. “He hit his.”

A police sniper shot and killed 35-year-old James Boulware — described as a conspiracy theorist who had made threats against schools, churches, and family members – after he fired gunshots and detonated explosive devices shortly after midnight Saturday at the police station.

His father told CNN his son was enraged at police – who the younger man blamed for taking away his son in a custody battle.

Jim Boulware said liberal policies had spurred a Child Protective Services investigation after he choked his mother two years ago, which landed him in jail for three weeks – until his father bailed him out.

“I knew he was angry at police, he blamed them for taking his son,” the elder Boulware said. “I tried to tell him the police didn’t do it. The police were doing their job to enforce the laws. If you want to get to that, you’ve got to go back to the liberal people that put these laws in place, to where CPS and all can grab kids.”

__________

Them liberals made me do it.  I mean you choke your mother and its just so dang liberuuuuul to take away the kid.

All things considered, including the embarrassing Terri Shiavo debacle, Jeb isn't really a candidate for the clown car.  Which is a good thing since the clown car is already full - Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal.  Stupid worthless loser social conservatives, one an all.

By the way, hate to interrupt a perfectly good food fight, but did you all notice Obama's remilitarization of Eastern Europe, setting up yet another showdown with nuclear-armed Russia?

Desperation is all over him like stink on poop.

Between the need for attention as well as ODS and CDS he is full throttle ahead.

Enjoy the show.  It will only go downhill from here

sooooo, any thoughts on how long after Jeb gets elected he'd wait until he's sending 100,000 american troops back to where his daddy and brother sent them?

Think Congressional Republicans will vote an authorization for force or will they give speeches about how he's a dictator who ignores the Constitution and breaks the law?

TD:  No what I remember is people like you claiming Cain was guilty as sin and should be automatically disqualified from running for office.

__________

So we see that when td has a "hero", that "hero" should not be disqualified from office because of multiple allegations and actual settlements.  The "hero" is not to be held responsible enough to disqualify.  But when it comes to Hillary, HDS requires Hillary be responsible for the allegations against her husband because of course, td believes that she should have controlled Bill (like good women  do, dontcha know) and that if she defended him, well you know she is enabling.  So is td enabling abuse by Cain and others?

Whether td likes it or not, I have pin I can wear to 'jeb' events left over from his brother's reign of error:

I doubt that anyone in the DMC has said that Jeb is directly responsible for what his brother and father did.

td - "the left that wants to hold Jeb responsible for the things done by his brother or father"

That's news to me.

WHO told you that?

@td1234 @Wena Mow Masipa How You'll probably think I'm yanking your crank, but I actually read many more conservative news sources / opinion pieces / tabloid hack jobs than I do liberal ones.  Truth be told, I don't even know what "Media Matters" is, and, quite literally, I've only ever tuned in to MSNBC once, years ago.

tiny dog,

If you trusted in 'science' you might comprehend the theory that suggests certain psychological pathologies are shared genetically.....

Given that, do you really want to risk another Bush Depression?

If you spell her name Hilary then you should spell his name Bil.

Come and listen to my story 'bout HelluvaJeb!

His platform is a very tangled web!

Was he lyin' back then or is he lyin' right now?

To win his base he must kowtow!

First we have each party try to destroy each other, then we have both parties

try to destroy each other, then we have both parties try to destroy the country

and each other. What a system and many people want the taxpayer to pay for

that.

We are so lucky to have many choices to vote for. Some countries only have one

td - that "let's hold Hillary responsible for what Bill did and Jeb responsible for what George did" riff. Did you get that from your religious beliefs? God punishes people for what someone else did?

td1234
td1234

@Paul42 Why should you care if it is a religious belief or not since you obviously do not follow the tenets of belief.

td1234
td1234

@consumedconsumer As a professed non believer, then you have no clue as to my believes since your opinion is based on the views of a non believer and as such not relevant.

Paul42
Paul42

td. Just looking for consistency between words and action. If a religion teaches G-d doesn't punish people for what others do, do those who say they follow G-d do the same?

If people don't see the preacher trying to live what he preaches, why should they believe his words?

consumedconsumer

@td1234 because people who profess to believe often use those professed beliefs to support things that go against those professed beliefs.

@td1234 @consumedconsumer whatever. i was raised a catholic. thought about being a priest as a kid. i'm well versed in your superstitions.

and this is about you using your supposed beliefs to justify things your beliefs don't actually support. so stop deflecting with this nonsense.

the issue was:

that "let's hold Hillary responsible for what Bill did and Jeb responsible for what George did" riff. Did you get that from your religious beliefs? God punishes people for what someone else did?

@td1234 Jeb ain't responsible for W . . .he just thinks like he does . . . which is something we don't need in the WH these days.

td1234
td1234

@Paul42 Now go back and put the exchange in context then get back to me. The hypocrisy is on the left that wants to hold Jeb responsible for the things done by his brother or father and then not hold Hillary to the same standards.

If you want to hold Jeb responsible for W then you must hold Hillary responsible for Bill. Got it?

Consistency? Progressives by definition are the antipathy of consistency. You know, there is no definable right or wrong.

td1234
td1234

@consumedconsumer Hillary is not responsible for Bill. She just thinks like he does when it comes to abusing women.......which is something we don't need in the WH these days.

@td1234 Do you realize how utterly idiotic that post reads? seriously . . . stop with the false equivalencies.

td1234
td1234

@consumedconsumer NO, the issue was a poster stating Jeb should be held accountable for w's invasion of Iraq. Go back and read.

Well if you want to actually read the Bible then God does punish people for what others have done. Look at the how the nation of Israel was punished due to the actions of their forefathers in worshiping false Gods.

consumedconsumer
consumedconsumer

@td1234 If I want to actually read the Bible . . . been there, done that. go back to advocating killing in the name of your god and believing that might makes right because that's what Jesus wanted.

Paul42
Paul42

@honested

He just answered that.  One of these days he's gonna realize he's gonna be held responsible for what gotalife's done (you're officially absolved, gotalife.  td's the sacrificial lamb).

Next, Ted Cruz gets punished for what his fellow countryman (US, not Canadian) Barak Obama did.  This is getting really confusing.

td1234
td1234

@consumedconsumer Like I said, you are a non believer so as such you have no authority to speak to me as to what the Bible actually says.
