‘A coward who enters a House of God’ to slaughter the innocent

150618-charleston-suspect-mn-0745_fe6b77d1928871a0714e0db31ff46bbf.nbcnews-ux-600-480Waking up to the horrific story coming out of Charleston … it makes you see the world from a different, less positive perspective, to say the least.

A young white man with a concealed firearm walked into a Bible study class last night in Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, the oldest AME congregation in the South. He apparently sat with the group for as much as an hour before pulling his weapon and executing nine people, including the pastor, state Sen. Clementa Pinckney.

1479545277

The Rev. Clemente Pinckney

According to news reports, quoting a survivor, the killer told his victims that “You rape all our women and you’re taking over our country and you have to go.’”

The rampage is being treated as a hate crime, as it should be.

In the comments below, please be respectful. Do not trivialize this tragedy by using it an opportunity to advance whatever political opinion you may harbor; do not use it as a cudgel against others. This is neither the time nor the place. Our enemy is hate; it is not each other. Treat this as the act of a deranged, vicious individual, an act for which many are now deeply suffering.

As NAACP President Cornell William Brooks, put it:

“There is no greater coward than a criminal who enters a house of God and slaughters innocent people engaged in the study of scripture.”

This is yet another example of how telling racist jokes, stereotyping and referring to people of color as animals, Monkeys and thugs dehumanizes them and feed the hatred of people like this kid. This kid simply heard you and believed you and took action on it.

Your post complements mine, below, written to another poster:

"You misinterpreted my thoughts, I believe.  I was thinking that every individual is connected to society and that we cannot avoid speaking of God, as He exists in the souls of others, in society.  God is a god of love and not a god of hate.  I believe we have a moral responsibility to point out that not practicing that love has its destructive affects upon society, and thereafter society will have its destructive affects upon individuals."

Since when do the rights of criminals become more important than the rights of law abiding citizens or the right of those to worship in peace?

How has our nation so perverted the definition of a few constitutional words, as to foster anarchy and continuously put the lives of our children at risk?

Are we going to justify this senseless massacre of people worshiping in a church, by shouting “Shall not be infringed” to the bereaved?

What are the responsibilities of so-called “responsible” gun owners?

Should we blame Hollywood or video games for our utter disregard for public safety?

Are we going to label this man a terrorist, but treat him differently than ISIS just because of where he was born?

Love is NOT going to solve this. LEADERSHIP will.

Since when, you ask?

Since the advent of this country's disgraceful criminal justice system, which clearly places criminals' rights above those of all others.

That's when!

ONE big problem in America today is the lack of mental health care. It's against the law now ( thanks Libs) to recognize this in schools and report it and ALERT officials and parents of NEEDS for those people who need counseling and medication. School officials will get sued trying to help. The PC crowd at work.

@96JB Saint Ronald cut all mental health care funding and let the wackos out of the looney bins. He did it to piss off his predecessor who made mental health funding a priiority. GOP and their NRA patrons make sure every wacko with mental health issues gets limited treatment but easy access to guns.

I completely agree however I would like to add places like the state mental health facility were closed secondary to budget cuts. I would like to remind everyone when you cut taxes these are some of the things we have to sacrifice.

FOX Noise and Rush Limbaugh have destroyed this country, by whipping up stupid white people into a frenzy about how evil black people are, how evil poor people are and how evil gay people are.  From the moment FOX Noise went on the air, they've demonized black people and have spent the past  8 years trashing Obama and trying to keep him from doing anything to fix Bush's mess.  The FCC should seriously consider abolishing FOX Noise before it's too late.

Here's a thought.  If you don't like FOX NEWS, don't watch it.  Why do you left wing libetards want to  abolish things you don't believe in instead of moving on to something you do believe in?

Oh and BTW, Bush is long gone.  Your ruler has had plenty of time to fix problems, yet he's only creating more.  Move on!

Based on some of these comments none of you should be allowed to own a gun(s).

In some States (Georgia, etc.) they are thinking about allowing students to carry guns on campus. Regardless of who you are (student, parent or faculty) when you purchased your gun(s) you made a choice. You choose to defend yourself regardless of where you live, go to school or work. You made a selfish choice without thinking about the consequences of your actions.

Whether you agree or not you became a "predator" the day you made that choice. You have the power to kill or hurt someone who you feel is a threat to your life, liberty and property. You need to recognize that guns don't kill people, people kill people. You can pretend you are a victim and hide behind your gun rights (2nd amendment) or you can stand up and resist the "fear" that made you choose to buy a gun.

I hope any college student applying for a gun permit in Georgia and all across the USA had a criminal background check and a mental health screening. We can all agree that the majority of college students are not responsible gun owners. I hope all parents recognize the risk associated with students carrying guns on college campus and demand they practice gun safety habits such as locking their gun(s) up in a secure gun locker at all times. I hope colleges teach students the consequences of their actions if they use their gun inappropriately. I hope students are required to go to the shooting range at least annually to practice and continue to follow the rules for gun safety and ownership.

As a gun(s) owner you have a responsiblity to not use "fear" as your primary weapon of choice as an excuse for shooting another student, parent or faculty member.

To Doggone, far below, regarding your comments about "my" God and Jay Bookman's words:

You misinterpreted my thoughts, I believe, Doggone.  I was thinking that every individual is connected to society and that we cannot avoid speaking of God, as He exists in the souls of others, in society.  God is a god of love and not a god of hate.  I believe we have a moral responsibility to point out that not practicing that love has its destructive affects upon society, and thereafter society will have its destructive affects upon individuals.

On a day Mr. Bookman points out Fox news for politicizing the tragic killing for pointing out religion as a possible reason, Obama brings up guns and the silence is is deafening.

So much for playing politics.
