… where Twitter is the sound of a songbird

The time has come. Finally….

I’m headed off to a Trump-free zone, a place where twitter is nothing more than the sound of a songbird and trolling is a motorized means of fishing. So I’ve asked the great Elvin Bishop to serenade me out the door with an appropriate tune:

Be kind to one another in my absence.

It's really something that Jay can be gone and still average about 1000 comments a day!

@td1234 You have never had Donald Trump make a statement about "we will never have another white president because George Bush blew it or President so and so blew it".  Yes he did throw a rock and no he can't hide his freaking hand after he threw it.  It was a bigoted comment, period.

StraightNoChaser
StraightNoChaser

@Captain-Obvious @StraightNoChaser @td1234 It means that Donald Trump has a belief in the superiority of his own opinions and a prejudiced intolerance of the opinions of others who do not look like him.  Hence, that is why he stated there will never be another black president after Obama, Any more question?

@Bulls_3y3  "I see Rick Perry the other day. ... He's doing very poorly in the polls. He put on glasses so people will think he's smart. And it just doesn't work! You know people can see through the glasses!"~~~Donald Trump on Rick Perry

@StraightNoChaser @td1234  We get it. You don't like Trump.

Stop focusing on him, because he's never going to be the GOP nominee.

There's Trump, and everybody else. Trump will get no more than 25-30% of the vote, because as the rest of the "everybody else" field drops out, those votes will go to the remaining "everybody else" - NOT TRUMP.

I don't pay much attention to the Middle East mess anymore because, thanks to Bush and Cheney, it is such a disaster that nothing we can or will do is going to help much.

The people living in this hell hole will have to sort it out themselves.

You seem surprised and all up in arms because the US has backed a NATO member against the PKK and even to a wider extent the Kurds themselves.

I'm not saying it is a good strategy but not sure there is any surprise to be had out of the actions that are taking place.  Seems to be status quo for the US in the ME and elsewhere.  Back a dictator, country, political group, ethnic/ religous group one day them turn their back the next.

How different is this from overall policy over the last 50 plus years?

It will probably backfire as a lot of US policy does in that part of the world and it is fair game to call out Obama because he is the POTUS but I'm just not seeing some huge change in overall policy from a macro level.

The Kurds it seems are seen as tactical ally  as opposed to Turkey who via NATO and location are seen as a strategic ally.  Huge difference even though the Kurds have been doing a lot of the heavy lifting against ISIS.

And yes the US is turning a blind eye for use of the airbases to conduct bombing raids.

Crappy for the Kurds who are getting the short end of the stick but I'm not seeing anything more than the usual US eff up in the region.

I agree that is not good but it appears to be more of the same in how the US conducts business especially in that region.

@td1234 "You are a progressive/socialist/bigot"

What racist have I ever defended td?  Post anything I have ever said defending a bigot, white or black.  You are a liar and a bigot because you on the other hand bend over backwards, minus the soap, and defend every bigoted comment made by conservatives in this country.  It does not matter if it's Trump, Cruz or Nathan Deal I can always count on you defending them and calling everyone else bigots for speaking out against it.  You and your republican super heros are a joke the way you try to utilize bigoted comments for votes.

td1234
td1234

@StraightNoChaser By attempting to state that Trump, Cruz or Deal makes bigoted statements in your mind proves you are a bigot. Plain and simple.

td1234
td1234

@Nick_Danger Do you think the term thug is racist? Why do you think the term is racist?

td1234
td1234

@Nick_Danger Only a person with preconceived stereotypes  about what is in the hearts of others of different races is already a prejudice by definition and therefore it is easy for them to jump to bigoted comments about others.

Example: Making the claim that a person using the term thug means something negative only about black people.

td1234
td1234

@StraightNoChaser Again they are only "racist" statements in the minds of people that have a preconceived prejudice of a political movement and of a race which therefore makes the inference bigoted by definition.

td1234
td1234

@Visual_Cortex Some people do not buy into the PC BS and believes in freedom of speech. I have consistently used the term thug to describe and criminal element regardless of race so therefore to now attempt to change the definition is total BS.

StraightNoChaser

@td1234 @StraightNoChaser I noticed you did not answer my question.  Keep defending the indefensible by attacking the messenger.  I have never defended a racist comment you on the other hand do it everyday.  You  do realize that your stance is weak?  Nathan Deal "Ghetto Grandmothers" and Donald Trump "No more black Presidents".  "When it comes to Donald Trump, I like Donald Trump. I think he's terrific. I think he's brash. I think he speaks the truth,"  Ted Cruz

Post YOUR definition of racism.

Go ahead, man up.

And show us - using some credible source, at least -what the original definition is!

Then I'll post the one that everybody else on the planet uses.

Go for it.

Happy to help...

http://reverbpress.com/features/thug-evolution-racist-code-word/

The problem is that any one person cannot simply decide what a word means. If enough people begin using a word in a certain way, then the meaning of the word is altered. And so the distinction between “nauseous” and “nauseated” is lost. “Enormity” is used to describe something that is very large. Usage changes, and fighting that change is very often a losing battle.  And now we see how thug has, thanks to the bullying, blustering and, yes, thuggery of the elite class, become tainted. It is a word that may no longer be used without an inevitable whiff of racism. Words mean things. The things that those words mean changes. This is what happened with “thug.” Now it is forever tarred with the reactionary, elitist racism of those who cannot bother to comprehend the viewpoint of someone growing up in Ferguson or Baltimore. It is a word of division and hatred. Its time has passed.

Now grow up, for crying out loud.

StraightNoChaser
StraightNoChaser

@td1234 @StraightNoChaser So saying there will be no other "black President" is not racist in your mind?  Some things can't be explained away td.  Donald Trump is a 69 year old white man, way above the millennial age voter who does not see black and white, and you know exactly what block of voters he is directing his comment too.  Don't play stupid and try that "you are a racist" BS on someone else who does not know better.  As long as people like Donald Trump and your other conservative hero's keep making stupid comments like that when they think no one is paying attention know this td, someone is paying attention and they will be called out for doing so, and it does not make me or anyone else a bigot  because we are paying attention.

@Visual_Cortex @td1234 @Nick_Danger

The language changes according to usage. No individual can control that.  And since we speak to communicate with others, we'd better use words according to their common usage to be understood. "Thug" is a word like that.  It doesn't mean simply a rough hoodlum who could be any race, any more. During the recent riots at Ferguson, etc., the word has been used by everyone to imply black looters and demonstrators. And so now it has that racial connotation.

You cannot control language, td.

@straker

Do you have hard evidence that the US government is working side by side with Al Qaeda?

***
It's pretty much an open secret and it is widely acknowledged that the so-called 'moderate Syrian opposition' is a myth, a fraud. And when you look past the surface changes, it's easy to see that the people the US and its allies are arming and training to go into Syria and fight the Assad army are either offshoots or direct affiliates of Al Qaeda.

Nothing. I realize that takes place often. Although your outrage over such practices tends to be very selective.

So when determining the relative merit of a claim you don't look at the actual circumstances of the situation itself, but just at what LeninTime says. That sounds about right!
