Fox News capitulates to the two-year-old brat named Trump

foxtrump

Unlike many things said by Donald Trump, this makes perfect sense:

“I do whine because I want to win, and I’m not happy about not winning and I am a whiner and I keep whining and whining until I win,” he said Tuesday in explaining his negotiating style.

Like I said, that explains a lot. If it ever crossed your mind that Trump acts like a spoiled two-year-old brat who throws temper tantrums until he gets what he wants because no one has the guts to tell him no, you’re right. That’s exactly who he is. No one wants to endure the embarrassing public spectacle of confronting him; no one wants to be the one cleaning up the mess after the food fight. So they give him what he wants, the bad behavior is rewarded and the clown act gains momentum.

(Imagine the conservative reaction if, say, Barack Obama had made a similar statement.)

Just yesterday, we saw a perfect example of that dynamic at work.

After whining ceaselessly on CNN and elsewhere about how poorly he was being treated by Fox News, an unhappy Trump got the response that he wanted: A private phone call from Fox chief Roger Ailes, in which Ailes apparently begged to be returned to Trump’s good graces and promised to give the Bumptious One the type of respectful treatment that Trump believes he deserves, but that he pointedly refuses to give to others.

Can you say “winning”? Now that Ailes has now made it clear that Fox needs Trump more than Trump needs Fox, will Fox personnel dare to ask Trump another hard or challenging question?

As if to seal the surrender, Trump was rewarded with a fawning hour-long interview with Sean Hannity, half of which aired last night. The tone was set with Hannity’s introduction: “Donald Trump is starting to explain key policy positions,” he said as the segment began, although of course Trump did nothing of the sort.

And the deeply personal insults directed at Megyn Kelly, probably the biggest political story of the week? Never mentioned, as if it never happened. It was airbrushed away as neatly as out-of-favor Soviet officials used to be airbrushed out of photos back during the Cold War.

Conservatives like talk a tough line on how they would deal with Vladimir Putin, the ayatollahs in Iran, illegal immigrants here at home and wimpy liberals in Congress, among others, yet based on available evidence, they can’t bring themselves to confront a cartoon of a man who is tearing down their party from within and highlighting its most glaring shortcomings.

The bully has them cowering, and you can tell that he just loves it.

This is what FOX is all about, I think they map this stuff out with Trump before hand, it is too rating orientated, this is what the world substitutes for intellect now days, cheap entertainment.  I think Kelly has sold her soul to the company store, she could have been a great journalist but now she is like the compromised basketball player shaving points for the mob.

Another great commentary Jay. This whole comedy show also proves what we've known for 10 years; Fox news has no journalism ethics. Yet the radical right still relies on Fox for their news, information and talking points!

Obama on the other hand was never challenged by the media

Not intended to be a factual statement.

Just sayin'.

Megyn Kelly should be embarrassed by her gotcha reality TV journalism that started all--bravo to Trump for saying F off. Obama on the other hand was never challenged by the media so today he continues to sit in every meeting as the smartest man always in the room, (the emperors new clothes syndrome)

meanwhile we are a weakened nation strangling under the burden of our unaccounted liabilities and debt of the nanny state which Obama  and pro left promote as successful with a treaty that Iran won every point that points a nuke directly at our head --what can we do as a nation. If it was 1776 most in DC would be hung for treason and we would start anew.

My question why is there even a debate about whether a Democrat or Republican should be president?  What have Republicans offered or done for citizens of this country since President Obama has taken office?  I keep coming up with absolutely nothing?

StraightNoChaser

@glock19 Prior to Obama what did Bush do to help the middle class or for that matter help this country?  That is why I made my statement.  What we have experienced is 8 years of a Republican administration which did more harm than good, followed by 7 years of Republicans who have still done absolutely nothing.  So why should anyone vote Republican unless they suffer from amnesia?

The difference is obama and the dems have done numerous things to hurt this country. Especially the middle class. It's amazing you people are still to stupid to get it...

@StraightNoChaser and doing nothing is noble when the government is viewed as the problem that causes every single one of america's ills. they're only happy when the government is killing someone (unless of course the 'someone' is a fetus.)

@glock19 "numerous things to hurt this country" . . . please expand and provide examples. to me, to the extent they're doing anything constructive rather than just pretending to distance themselves from what they've been doing since Clinton (i.e., be the GOP-lite), they're trying to improve things rather than to continue letting them fester.

"Ok I'll concede. Please, do explain how American Jews are not really Jews. Without sounding like a clown. Floor is yours."

Already have, on a number of occasions. As Medved (himself a devout Jew) has written, one cannot convert to Christianity and still be considered a Jew by the Jewish community. Logically, that means that the primary test for being a Jew is a religious one (and not ethnic). Since most American Jews are secular and either agnostic or atheistic, they do not meet this standard. Here is what an atheistic "Jew" has said on this matter:

BTW, I would say that most people who claim to be Christians are not so (fr similar reasons).

@Penses @Visual_Cortex You don't have an argument for him(or her) to refute. I can find you just as many Jews who claim that you can convert and still be considered a Jew. You have no facts to back up the claim that "most American Jews are secular and either agnostic or atheistic.", nor do you or this clown from the article have any place to comment on a mythical standard that they do or do not meet.

You have an opinion, and that's fine. But it's ignorant and poorly formed and we're all here to witness that you're a complete clown.

Fox News is the media head cheerleader for the GOP.  Of course, they're going to bow to "The Don" and kiss his ring.  He's the GOP frontrunner at this point, and he still appears to be gaining steam.  No matter what he says, they will stand behind him as long as he's leading the polls.  If he were running dead last, then nobody would be paying him attention.

For better or worse, Trump is a ratings bonanza.  At the current time, he's also looking like the juggernaut that the GOP has been longing for since 1/20/2009.  Until his ratings tumble, Fox News and every other rightwing media source will kneel to his will or have to deal with the fallout from his faithful followers.

@Brosephus This must also be the reason CNN and MSNBC are begging him to come on their shows as well.

R-A-T-I-N-G-S td.  Ratings.  As long as he's the front runner, he is a media draw.  And, even MSNBC needs ratings to generate revenue.

I would have figured that a member of the "free enterprise" party would already know such a thing.  When it has to be spelled out to you, then that really makes me question your ideology.

I thought saying on national TV that you didn't support legal abortion even to save the life of the expectant mother was something of a "standout," but maybe not.

Most American Jews are not really Jews and they have no skin in the game.

This from the individual who said yesterday that abortions were being performed in the 12 - 24 month period of a woman's pregnancy

I wish people would be more cautious when throwing around such terms as “Islam,”“Shia” and “Sunni.”There are as many “brands,” “sects,” etc. within Islam as there are in Christianity. To say “Sunni” is not unlike saying “Protestant.”Which Sunni are we talking about, the Episcopalian ones or the Baptist ones or the Christian Identity ones? And, believe it or not, there are even Unitarian ones!
