GOP Debate II: Popcorn ready?

bTyozBLncSo what will we see tonight?

In the absence of an overriding issue of the day, the issue will probably be The Donald, who has remained atop the GOP polls much longer than expected by most people, me included.  It has made a lot of people in the GOP very nervous, and as a result Trump has to expect to be the target of attacks from Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina and probably others as well. By any traditional measure, he has given them a lot of ammunition to fire at him.

If I were Trump, I’d try to turn that to my advantage.  If he plays it right — and whatever else you may say, he knows how to play it — every attack on his candidacy can be used as evidence that the GOP establishment hates him and corporate America is out to get him. That is his Teflon. The more convincing he can be as the champion of the base trying to fight the DC-based party, the better off he’ll do.

On with the show ….

Hey. Who here remembers the 2nd Republican debate of the 2012 election ...

Have a good night everyone.

I simply can not imagine any of these people as president. Of course, I said the same beforeReagan was elected gov. of CA - I was living there then - and then president. And I said the same when Shrub was elected - TWICE., not to mention Chambliss. So if one of these folks is elected, I guess I will do what I have done - hunker down & hope my kids will take care of me when SS & Medicare are gutted.

Carly demonstrated that you can really skewer someone in a very few words. Doubt Mr. Trump will make any further comments about her looks for the balance of the campaign.

So a 'debate' was staged tonight by that cult posing as a political party called the Republican party?

What a weird spectacle.

I must say, I wish our country was better than this media driven political entertainment.  Can't they just cover the issues and the canidates policies?  Would that be too much.  Apparently not in the Fake News, cable talkers and AM radio these days.  No wonder the republicans wants to defund NPR and PBS.  Soooo very sad.  Not saddy, saddy like Kam says!  :)

 "Loser tonight was Tapper"

-----------

No, the loser was Ann Coulter, who tweeted during the foreign policy discussion:

"How many f---ing Jews do these people think there are in the United States?"

What a country!  Like no other, we can watch, react, "feel", react freely, debate (without fear),the process of "electing" the leader of our country.  Frankly, I'm proud to be an American.

Not sure one can see that in too many other nations.

Pretty neat in my mind.

If Democrats truly want to lose, they will nominate hillary, sanders or biden.

hamiltonAZ

@Orange15 No great choices there, but Democrats will win regardless of candidate if GOP nominates someone the independents believe would be too dangerous with a Republican Congress.

Generally, voters like a divided government.

@skydog12 ~ Oh, never mind. After further thought I figured it out. "Left Weenie Democrat" - Gotcha!

Yep, that works.

Carry on..........

Fiorina, Christie and Kasich gain - Trump gains more modestly (because his ratings have no relationship to what he says, apparently)

Carson might drop, Cruz and Rubio stay irrelevant. Huckaby falls along with Walker (biggest loser)

Paul's followers are loyal - might gain a little on the Pot and anti-war stuff.

Bush stays close, might jump Carson.

PaulinNH
PaulinNH

Winners - Fiorina, Kasich, Paul

Losers - Carson, Trump

Even - Bush, Cruz, Christie

Invisible - Rest

@PaulinNH Wow, I hope not Kasich.  He's a wolf in sheeps clothing.  My entire family lives in OH and he's not as moderate as some think.

JeepDrv

@PaulinNH @JeepDrv I agree, based on his moderate stances, but who knows what the plutocrats of the RW will do to prop him up.  They want a puppet like him.  Just my thoughts.

We should have one of these every week.

One thing is for certain any of the 11 on the stage tonight would be a better choice than Hillary.

I was hoping Tapper would recite Reagan's record on spending, tax increases, compromising  and ask if today's conservatives would give him the nomination.

US_Patriot

@Paul42 ~ Seriously?  Tapper's a pawn.

As for Reagan, yeah, sure.  Beats the hell outta the current occupant of the WH.

It's called "negotiation", not comprimising.

I could go on, however, you appear to be unable to comprehend the difference.
