Netanyahu: Holocaust was a Palestinian idea, not Hitler’s idea

Benjamin-Netanyahu-AP-e1324223528336

In a speech before the World Zionist Conference Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave Adolph Hitler a bit of a pass for the Holocaust that killed more than six million Jews. As Netanyahu explained it, Hitler originally never intended to pursue the so-called “Final Solution,” but instead sought merely to expel Jews from Germany.

According to Netanyahu, the proposal to wipe Jews from the face of the Earth must instead be blamed on a Palestinian leader, Haj Amin al-Husseini, at the time the grand mufti of Jerusalem. As the prime minister put it:

“(al-Husseini) flew to Berlin. Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews. And Haj Amin al-Husseini went to Hitler and said, ‘If you expel them, they’ll all come here.’ ‘So what should I do with them?’ (Hitler) asked. He said, ‘Burn them’.”

This man who merely wanted to “expel” the Jews would be the same Hitler who, in “Mein Kampf”, wrote that “the personification of the devil as the symbol of all evil assumes the living shape of the Jew.” This would be the same Hitler who so hated Jews that he committed his entire nation to the brutal elimination of Jews wherever they could be found — Poland, France, Italy, Hungary, Ukraine. His obsession was so overpowering that even in the final days of the war, with Nazi Germany trying desperately to stave off defeat, Hitler ordered the diversion of even more resources to the genocidal effort.

This is the man whom Netanyahu is trying to excuse to a degree so that he can put the onus on the Palestinians.

Zevaha Galon of Israel’s Meretz party put it well:

“This wasn’t a speech by [Austrian Holocaust denier] Jorg Haider, This wasn’t a snippet of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ doctoral thesis. This was an actual quote by the prime minister of the state of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, before the World Zionist Congress. It has to be seen to be believed.”

“Perhaps we should exhume the corpses of the 33,771 Jews murdered in Babi Yar in September 1941, two months before the mufti and Hitler met, and bring them up to speed on the fact that the Nazis had no intention of destroying them.”

Holocaust historians are all but unanimous that Hitler needed no outside prodding or inspiration to pursue the Final Solution, and in fact intended that course all along.  “Hitler was the one who came up with the idea of the Final Solution … not the mufti,” the chief historian of the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum told NBC News. “Hitler did not need him to tell him what to do with the Jews. The Jews were already burning.”

“It is a sad day in history when the leader of the Israeli government hates his neighbor so much so that he is willing to absolve the most notorious war criminal in history, Adolf Hitler, of the murder of 6 million Jews,” Saeb Erekat, chief Palestinian negotiator, said in response.

As Erekat suggests, this is far more than a debate about history. By trying to hang guilt for the Holocaust around the neck of a Palestinian, Netanyahu makes it as clear as possible what most honest observers already knew: He has no intention whatsoever of allowing a two-state solution to the Middle East dilemma, nor of allowing Palestinians in the Occupied Territories to live in anything but permanent subjugation.

And if that continues to be the de facto policy of Israel as well, then in time U.S. policy in that region will have to change.

And the next thing we're going to hear from Netanyahu, Jay, is that Jesus had it coming, right? I mean, Jesus taught that the spiritual path runs between the extremes by always returning good for evil and doing it for God alone. But Netanyahu is so “eye for an eye” in how he deals with the Palestinians as a people that he must think Jesus Christ was a fool.

I feel sorrow for those like Benjamin Netanyahu who have such a perverted morality and for those with no morality at all, for there's no way they can reach the highest levels of consciousness – what doing good through the pursuit of God first are really all about.

We each have within us the complete and the perfect spirit of the one living God, waiting for us to learn what Jesus taught about how to become one with it: “Ye must be born again.” Clearly Netanyahu can't see the trees for the forest in this regard, a very common spiritual problem these days, and unless and until he can learn to think in such terms, Israel can't know the peace it claims it deserves!

@TomMiddleton Maybe you should pay attention to a Bipartisan House committee' resolution having to do with Palestinian hatred of all jews and incitement of violence which they have been doing consistently since the  1930's :

"Committee on Thursday debated and passed a resolution that would condemn the Palestinian Authority for "anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incitement."

The non-binding resolution, drafted by Congressman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Florida) and Ted Deutch (D-Florida), lists a host of statements from PA leadership made since 2013 that its authors consider inflammatory. Noting that the Oslo II agreement, signed in 1995, forbids such rhetoric, it condemns PA President Mahmoud Abbas for praising the killers of Israelis as "heroes," for labeling Jews a "contaminating" presence on the Temple Mount (Haram al-Sharif) and for encouraging bloodletting in Jerusalem.

The resolution urges Abbas and Palestinian Authority officials "to discontinue all official incitement and exert influence to discourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incitement in Palestinian civil society" and directs the State Department "to regularly monitor and publish information on all official incitement by the Palestinian Authority against Jews and the State of Israel."

In a hearing on the matter on Thursday morning, the chairman of the committee, Ed Royce (R-California), said the international community– and the United States– has a responsibility to contend with a "deep-seated hatred" against Israel."""

From Jerusalem Post. today.

Apparently Jay thinks Natanyahu's remarks are the cause of women. children and the elderly being stabbed and killed.

Apparently you're not a Christian, Ivg, at least not the kind Jesus taught us to be, meaning maybe you should read again what Jesus taught about how to respond to evil before suggesting somehow I am wrong.

Funny how some conservatives like to claim a moral superiority but, in truth, are no better than those they hate, meaning before you go thinking Israel can survive without Christ, maybe you should try thinking just a little bit more, OK?

So Jay  and other   Israel bashers  here want to ignore fact that Arabs in Palestine and Mideast were buds and allies with Hitler. Having gotten their butts kicked along with Hitler by many Jewish soldiers and with thousands of stateless Jews who at war's end chose to take advantage of being on the winning side and get some payback by reclaiming their historic rights to Israel

Poor Arabs bet on the wrong horse and were led by a war criminal who aided Hitler in exterminating 6,000,000. Life is a bit-h when you lose!

Already 10 Freedom Caucus members have publicly expressed their opposition to Ryan or his key demand, which is enough to sink his candidacy.

Ryan could either change his demands or any of these Representatives could change their position. But as it stands now, things are not looking up for Paul Ryan

@td1234 @StraightNoChaser There are no Christian Jews that's how my point is different from your statement.  You stated that Christians followed Gods will or something to that nature and re-established their homeland.   That is false because there are no Christian Jews.  However, there are Christian Palestinians.

@StraightNoChaser "Curious, why did the word "welcome"  catch your attention?"

Because the Jews were not welcomed there. Never were, are not now, never will be. They had to fight for every inch of that land. Always have, are now, always will. (Well, at least until religion is abolished.)

StraightNoChaser

@Eye wonder @StraightNoChaser Hey, you get no argument from me, they were not welcome I should have said they were allowed into Palestine.  I am not a historian but I do have a little knowledge on the Jewish faith and their origins in Palestine that I learned in college.

@StraightNoChaser @Eye wonder

I wouldn't even use the word 'allowed.' They moved in. Started settling. Building infrastructure. Etc.  Two people's with a disputed claim to land. One of them emerged victorious.  In the absence of concepts like "hashem" and "allah" (and Yoishke, too), millions of lives could have been spared.

Clearly the Zionist experiment has failed miserably all except the Jews in Israel.  What did those pushing this post WWII think was going to happen when this crap piece of land subject of ancient fables was taken.  Not a single country I know of has benefitted from this thing.  Certainly not the US.  Our only "true" ally doesn't even have any oil.
