Some Fridays are better than other Fridays …

… and this is one.

Last month I complained that nothing much at this year’s Music Midtown appealed to me, especially at $125 a ticket, and I posted something from the Deslondes as an example of what they were missing from the lineup.

So now that the Deslondes are playing the Variety tomorrow night, at something considerably less than $125 a ticket, I feel almost honor-bound to be there. Come say hello if you see me.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Tom - "your fundamentalist beliefs"

They are NOT my beliefs.

However, they ARE the words of Jesus.

So, you go thru the New Testament and pick out the parts you like and ignore the ones you don't.

Looks like you and others have started a new religion.

Did God give you some sort of divine revelation?

@straker

All the law and the prophets, straker? The two most important commandments? Instead of talking smack about what you don't understand, maybe you should try living what he taught till you do.

Christianity is not an academic pursuit, not a game to be won on a blog like this. But it is an ongoing way of life for those who "hear" the words and try to make them their own for the good of the world.

And, no, I'm not trying to start a new religion but put back the missing pieces from the one we have already with the words of Jesus. And the fact that you can't accept this speaks volumes about your ignorance and intentions regarding all things God.

It is you who cherry-pick the verses for your fundamentalist beliefs, leaving out the most important parts. And while I know it must be hard to have someone reminding you of what you're missing, I really have no other choice.

Tom - "what Jesus taught"

Matthew 13, 41 & 42, 49 & 50

This is what Jesus taught.

Do I have to do everything for you?

Matthew 22

36Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38This is the first and great commandment.

39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

All the law and the prophets, straker? Two greatest commandments? Why did you not quote these, straker, not among your fundamentalist beliefs? Yup, and next! Oh and have a wonderful day...

Tom - "fundamentalist much"

No, I am not a fundamentalist.

But, that IS what the New Testament says.

You can read, right?

"But, that IS what the New Testament says."

=============================

Is is if you're a fundamentalist, which depends on how much of what Jesus taught you're willing to leave out for your belief. Try reading all of it, straker, or better yet, try living it for a change. It is, after all, a religion of love, which goes well beyond the fundamentalist brand you can't seem to move beyond.

"the God of us all has a sense of humor"

And, according to Christianity, if we don't live an exact, certain way, that God will torture us forever in Hell.

Yep, great sense of humor.

Fundamentalist much, straker? Dude, you know that's not who I am, but like fundamentalists you never learn and that's completely on you.

Here's another original from some 30-plus years ago for your listening pleasure, written about an 80's woman, you know, one wearing a miniskirt and smoking a cigar.

The presentation is bare-bones for sure, meaning it desperately needs at least band, but the sentiments are unique, and, yes, I felt this way about someone still very dear!

I'd be aware of about zilch in new artists and styles if not for FNM.

Thanks, Jay.
