Top GOP experts: Trump would be ‘most reckless president in history’

A group of 50 top Republican foreign policy and national security officials who have served in high positions under GOP presidents released a devastatingly candid joint statement Monday explaining why they believe that Donald Trump is not fit to serve as our nation’s commander in chief.

If elected, they warned, Trump would be “the most reckless president in U.S. history.”

The signers made it clear that their united opposition was not based on specific policy differences with Trump, although such differences are undoubtedly significant and real. Instead, they wrote, their refusal is based on the conviction that “he would be a dangerous president and would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being.”

Here is an excerpt of the letter (the list of signees is attached at the end of this link):

On policy matters, I disagree with most of the people who signed the statement. But again, they haven’t based their conclusions on matters of policy. They do so on the basis of  character, temperament, values, comprehension of constitutional limits and moral decency.

People like this don’t make such statements lightly. If you’re concerned about the future of your country, you shouldn’t take such statements lightly.

Half a million refugees have been brought to the US since 9/11, and not one has been arrested on domestic terrorism charges. We cannot say the same for angry conservative white men.

It's all about what brand of Kool-Aid suits your flavor. They're all full of crap, they all lie, they're all corrupt, and they're all playing the American population like a bunch of sheep. If you keep dancing like puppets, nothing's going to change.

It's going to to come down to money. Are you going to vote for Hillary Clinton who has promised to raise taxes on corporations and the middle class or are you going to vote for Donald Trump who is promising to cut taxes for everyone including corporations? Vote wisely.

Uh Clinton has said she would NOT up taxes on anyone making under$250K. The tax increase is for those making over $250K. Try to stay current.

The most reckless has been Obama....Hillary would-be more of the same. I'm going for Trumph

Trump is reckless with his businesses, that's the biggest reason he has been bankrupt.

Mary Frame

Will Dou Jones Boswell - you realize that all the green energy projects that were headed by Obama money handlers, went bankrupt. The tax payers are on the hook for that. The tax payers didn't get a dime back, GM filed bankruptcy as well, they did not pay back all of it, all tax payers lost. Obama bailed out numerous Wall Street institutions . Obama did put out of business small local banks, which is wrong.

New York Magazine reported Wednesday that a former “rising star” at the conservative news network was playing with children on the trampoline during a barbecue in New Jersey hosted by “Fox and Friends” co-host Steve Doocy when Ailes moved in.

 “Are you wearing any panties? I wish you weren't,” he said, according to the report, which cites three ex-Fox News anchors who accuse Ailes of harassment.

Ailes is twisted.

What does AJC know?  That Trump does not have the temperament to be President?  At least that's what 50 Republicans just said.   LOL

Funny how people drive 55 in the far left lane on 285 while studiously engrossed in their cell phones.  Funny how they're surprised when I honk and flip them off as I fly by.

Meanwhile, 21st Century Fox has begun discussing a settlement in the Gretchen Carlson lawsuit against Ailes, according to two people familiar with the negotiations. The company is requesting that Ailes, who has denied all Carlson’s allegations, fund at least a portion of the settlement, which is expected to reach eight figures, these people said. At issue in the settlement talks is the existence of audio tapes recorded by multiple women in conversation with Ailes, two people familiar with the tapes said. Ailes’s lawyers have argued that any negotiation with Carlson should take place in private arbitration, but the specter of a public trial looms. “If they litigate the case, all the tapes will become public, directly and through others,” this person said. “Then you will have a parade of women come in. Nobody wants that.” (Ailes, through his lawyer, denied all allegations.)///////

Let the fun begin.

It's not over.  Top execs at Fox News knew what was going on.  Goggle, among others, Tantaros or whatever the hell her name is.

The Murdoch brothers need to clean house.

Funny how all the wingnuts who stood by screaming "HARDER. .. FASTER..." as Bushdrunk took us into an uneccesary, and disasterous war now seem to be so anti-war on Hills.

Whats up with all these reformed chickenhawks?

Donnie_Pinko

@foo2u

No actually what's funny is how all the liberals here have gradually over the Obama years and especially during the Clinton campaign come out as raging war boosters and pro-military cheerleaders.

What's up with all these suddenly religious liberal war hawks?

Donnie_Pinko

Funny how the leader of a country that barely survived a coup attempt last month is now the target of increasingly hostile coverage in the Western press - e.g. New York Times - and in the statements of Western leaders.

Very striking.

@Donnie_Pinko

Didn't you suspect that Erdogan's blaming of "forces in the West" for the coup attempt might be a harbinger of rapprochement with Russia?

foo2u

(I think the implication is that the west engineered the attempted coup... kinda like Russia interceding in our election on Drumpf's behalf)

@JayBook @Donnie_Pinko

Arresting thousands and thousands of peaceful political opponents who had nothing to do with the coup attempt, including journalists and teachers, does tend to attract negative coverage.

-

Yeah, terrible. Funny though how that didn't stop Washington and other Western leaders from rushing to legitimate and support the butcher Al Sisi in Egypt after he reasserted control in a bloodbath, which saw a far more violent and bloodier crackdown following his successful coup.

JayBook

@Donnie_Pinko Yeah. Arresting thousands and thousands of peaceful political opponents who had nothing to do with the coup attempt, including journalists and teachers, does tend to attract negative coverage.

But of course, as a Putin fanboy, you no doubt think that's just fine.
