Newt admits he’s backing an undisciplined, lazy child

trump-and-gingrich-seth-wenigap-640x480

“What Trump has got to understand, he’s got to sing either ‘I Got To Be Me’ or he’s got to order a new song, ‘I’ve Got To Be President.’ They’re not the same song. He’s got to become much more disciplined. For a while there, I thought he had really turned a corner. This last week, I think has been, frankly, a lost week. A week which has hurt him. Which has shaken his own supporters. You can’t tweet at 3 o’clock in the morning. Period. There’s no excuse. Ever. Not if you’re going to be president of the United States. He’s really got to decide….”

“It can’t be lackadaisical. He’s got to decide that saving America and making America great again is worth his subordinating himself to the difficult process of becoming president of the United States…. I really hope that this is a wakeup call for him. Quit tweeting without somebody looking over your shoulder. Don’t ever tweet late at night. And prepare to really study and get ready for a serious debate.”

That’s Newt Gingrich, talking Friday night with Sean Hannity about their preferred candidate to be president of the United States. And basically, it amounts to a remarkable public confession. Gingrich admits in those remarks that the man whom they want to elevate to the White House lacks all discipline, cannot be trusted without adult supervision, won’t submit to adult supervision, is too lazy to do the work that is required and places the gratification of his own ego over the interests of the country.

They want him to change all that, at least for the next 38 days.

The man whom they’re discussing in such terms is 70 years old. He’s not going to change his basic nature; he has shown neither the willingness nor the capability of doing so.  But they just want him to hide that basic nature long enough to smuggle him past the voters on Nov. 8.

And after that? After that, they don’t really seem to care. Because you know, they’re patriots.

Brilliant, well researched article. Discerning Trump's supporters comments, it seems they didn't comprehend the article. The critisims of Trump come from respected established long term conservative writers and thinkers.

Touting an equivilancy between a beauty pagaent, TV reality-show-impressario, cum slippery developer of gaudy buildings with decades of experience by a career devotee of political service is intellectually lazy - at it's best.

I hope Mrs. Clinton will use this great opportunity to point out the obvious flaws in Reagan's (and Ayn Rand inspired) tax laws that subsidize the very rich and are the primary cause (not government spending) of our national debt. Trumps use of tax laws is legal - which is the point! Here's a chance to show detrimental tax laws produce huge (Uuge!) revenue loss for our economy. Don't believe me? Please see attached 99 year history of US tax code article:

it seems to me that Trump will need a whole lot of extra expert folks on his team just to govern in a manner that Americans expect.  I don't think we have time to provide 101 classes in Trump governance to such a team. It is more likely that Donald will fire them all anyhow.  I wonder how many people I have heard say they'll move to Canada if Trump wins would do so. Sounding more and more likely each passing day. Can Ivanka no longer get thru to him??????????????

One more thing...where is that Kellyanne Conway?  I haven't seen her much since got in trouble with Trump because she said it was a mistake to go after Miss U.  Anybody else notice that?

The voters, both D and R are ready for this election to be over, but each is frightened of the possible outcome. On election night I'm going to turn off the tube and listen to some great jazz while I savor a good red.

Off topic:

Voters in Colombia have rejected a landmark peace deal with Farc rebels in a shock referendum result, with 50.2% voting against it.

Damn.

Although adultery is a misdemeanor in most of the states with laws against it, some — including Michigan and Wisconsin — categorize the offense as a felony. Punishments vary widely by state. In Maryland, the penalty is a paltry $10 fine. But in Massachusetts, an adulterer could face up to three years in jail.

Some people are so ignorant and dumb to no end.

In all seriousness, who is advising this guy? In what realm does it seem like a good idea to start in on the idea of marriage infidelity?

ScubaSteve
ScubaSteve

@ByteMe @ScubaSteve Yes but several of those men are, at the very least, serious politicians. I honestly don't understand how it can be possible for a campaign to be this off-the-rails.

@ScubaSteve Umm.. a bunch of old guys who have committed the same error and who blame their ex-wives for it.

@ScubaSteve I'll bite: which ones do you think are "serious" politicians?

ScubaSteve
ScubaSteve

@ByteMe @ScubaSteve Maybe "professional" politicians is the better way to put it lol

Take Newt. The guy's a clown, but I think we can agree that he is aware of general political strategy & tactics, right? Even he seems lukewarm in his outrage about all of this.

Trump pleaded the 5th 97 times when giving deposition on his adulatory case.

He sure looks guilty to me.  LOL

@rimsky Innocent until proven guilty... unless you're a clinton, then it's the other way around.

Between 1998 and 2003, the Trump Organization rented office space to an Iranian bank that was later linked to a terrorist organization by U.S. officials, according to a report published Monday morning by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and the Center for Public Integrity (CPI).

If Trump were to shoot and kill the Pope, Johnny would be on here shortly afterwards to explain why that shouldn't disqualify him from the presidency.

@YouLibs Should deleting 55,000 emails, bleaching the servers and having her IT staff plead the 5th disqualify her?

Clinton should open the next debate by congratulating Trump on his "winning" the first debate.

"Mr. Trump, I hope you "win" this debate by the same margin as the last one."

In his years as a reality TV boss on "The Apprentice," Donald Trump repeatedly demeaned women with sexist language, according to show insiders who said he rated female contestants by the size of their breasts and talked about which ones he'd like to have sex with.

Melania I hope you are aware of this.

Melania when don't you divulge the tax returns you have with the bum.  You know you are history very soon.

Anyone think that Trump recycling Republican "greatest hits" from the '90's is going to work out well at the "Town Hall" debate in a week?

New Wikileak info coming with audio of Clinton discussing her criminal behavior!  This is going to be great.

Lee30519
Lee30519

@ScubaSteve @Lee30519 Her histoy of unethical behavior dates back to the 1970's.  You are aware of the FBI investigation now.  Let's see how that plays out.

@Lee30519 @ScubaSteve I'm an attorney, so I'm of course going to ask you for Hillary Clinton's criminal record. Are you going to be able to provide me with her criminal history?

ScubaSteve
ScubaSteve

@Lee30519 @ScubaSteve So, no. You cannot provide me with her criminal history, because it does not exist. So since words matter, we can stop using the word 'criminal' can't we?

I'm aware of her most recent FBI investigation that failed to produce charges, yes.

@Lee30519 @ScubaSteve That's like me saying George W. Bush hasn't been brought to trial for War Crimes yet.
