This promises to be a nightmare of extraordinary proportions

I’m afraid that we are about to witness the worst night in the history of American democracy.

Donald Trump knows that he has lost. It’s over. His campaign and reputation are a pile of smoking ruin. The Republican establishment has already signaled its abandonment of his cause, and the polls had turned against him even before the most recent revelations. But he is apparently intent on taking everything down with him — our country, the Republican Party, the democratic process and the American people, in an orgy of ugliness.

Put another way, the man who claims that “my strongest asset, maybe by far, is my temperament,” the man who wants to be given control of the nuclear football, is in the process of showing us exactly what he would do with it.  I have a feeling I’m going to need a long hot shower and a cold bourbon by the time this is over.

And while pundits panned Trump's debate performance for focusing too much on personal attacks on Clinton and repeating too many already-debunked falsehoods, at watch parties in both states, Republican voters said they felt reassured.                                                    Stupidity of people has no bounds.  Are Republicans that dense?

@rimsky please elect them, i hope he never goes away, maybe when the nukes are on their way we might have a slight change of minds, but my guess is Trump will be cashing a check in Russia and not even here to see it.

It does not matter at this point. Donald could call all of his supporters dumb racists, and they would still vote for the guy. A portion of the electorate vote party over country no matter what.

@gadem  Just goes to show exactly how fed-up folks are with career politicians like Hillary.

@gadem I agree, same with Hillary and it may surprise you to know that I am NOT a Trump supporter ( I liked Rubio ) but I don't see a lot of difference between Trump and Hillary, just the style of delivery

@gadem It's not "party over country", gadem, it's more like "country over flawed candidate" with Trump.  With Hillary, it's guaranteed that nothing is going to change, including the tax breaks for her rich friends.

@DownInAlbany @gadem I don't think so.  I think is shows that a group of people have taken what the Republicans have been saying since Reagan and now believe that any and all government is bad.  It has gotten to the point where a group of people believe that having our government and country fail is the only way to save it.  This is the group voting for Trump in the hope that he will bring it down and rebuild it in their image.
These are truly scary people.

It's the " Deplorables vs the Despicables "  ( round two to Deplorables )

@DownInAlbany Ain't got a speaker locked up for sex with choirboys yet, who preceded over Clinton's impeachment.

Why does Donald think all minorities live in the inner cities? That is a problem.

@Bruno2 @gadem the demographics are changing, Jane Norwood will be our next mayor, in Atlanta. She only lost to Reed by 900 votes last election, and the flow of young upperly mobile citizens is unbelievable and fun.

You got a bus system down in Albany?

@gadem good point the live in rural America like Albany.

Bruno2

@gadem In case you haven't noticed, most of the major cities in the US have disproportionate minority representation.

@Peachs Jane Norwood will not be the next Mayor, do you not realize how devoted the dead vote is in Atlanta?

@Bruno2 @gadem I have not noticed. I live in Loganville. When I travel, I tend to stay in hotels in the city. I don't go riding around through inner cities. But as far as I know, people of all color live in low income housing.

Infraredguy

@gadem FYI, there is no such thing as Low Income Housing any longer, Section 8 vouchers took its place years ago

Infraredguy

@gadem If you think Jane Norwood will be the next Mayor, then you think the Streetcar is the best investment the City ever made

Infraredguy

@gadem Yes, but the idea was to eliminate the failed public housing projects left over from the LBJ days of the Great Society

@Peachs @Bruno2 @gadem The ironic thing is that a couple of Atlanta's former mayors complained about the gentrification.

One of the more hilarious moments was when, after Trump responded to her low-blows, Hillary said "...when he goes low, we go high..."  Right after she went low.  So obviously disingenuous.

@DownInAlbany I thought Trump had an effective comeback when he reminded the audience of the negativity of the 2004 Dem primary when the Clintons and Obamas went after each other.

@DownInAlbany Hillary also said " I never received any classified e-mails on my private server " ( but the Russians did )

@DownInAlbany @Peachs on sex a fresher body is more believable.  But if it putsTrump in a room with a normal female I think it is great.

@DownInAlbany you hauled four retired people out of their nursing homes, the image is still baked in my brain, sex and wheelchairs.

I think the clearest revelation coming out of this election so far is the double standards by which Libs live.  Documented sexual misconduct by Bill Clinton = No big deal, we're supposed to focus on his job performance only.  Tax avoidance by the largest Dem donors = a non-issue.  Criminal behavior on the part of Hillary = No big deal because the Obama FBI chose not to recommend prosecution.

gadem

@DownInAlbany @Bruno2 the ones that were leading the charge were serial adulterers themselves. That is a little hypocritical no?

DownInAlbany
DownInAlbany

@gadem @Bruno2  1) Hillary has said she would put him in charge of the economy.  It's a package deal.  Admit it.

DownInAlbany

@Bruno2  When Clinton got caught with Monica, the Dems were quick to say, "...sex doesn't matter..."

Peachs
Peachs

@DownInAlbany @Bruno2 and Hillary is not a sex object so what is your point.  We think it matters a lot in the candidate and we will not vote for Bill again and if you had giving us half a candidate I would vote Republican, but no you give us a ambusher.

gadem
gadem

@Bruno2 1.) Bill Clinton is not running for President.

2.) Dem Donors are not running for President, so they are not in a position to give themselves another tax break.

3.) There was NO criminal behavior committed by Clinton.

Bruno2
Bruno2

@gadem @Bruno2

"1.) Bill Clinton is not running for President."

You Libs think you're so clever by trotting out that same line ad nauseum.  The point is that you're attempting to hold Trump to standards which you refused to hold Bill Clinton to when he was running for office.  Which makes you hypocrites.

Mandingo
Mandingo

@Bruno2  Bill and the donors are not running for office. The republican in change of the FBI found no grounds to prosecute. Look, we all are entitled to our own opinions .....but not our own facts. 2 + 2 = 4  regardless of how you feel about it.

gadem
gadem

@Bruno2 @gadem He was held to the same standards. That one character flaw in Donald does not make him unfit for office. If you take that one thing away, he would still be unfit for office.

Bruno2
Bruno2

@gadem @DownInAlbany @Bruno2 I'll give you that one, gadem.  As I pointed out last night, powerful men like Bill Clinton and Donald Trump have women lining up to throw themselves at them.

Bruno2
Bruno2

@Mandingo @Bruno2 The bottom line is that you're applying standards to Trump that you don't apply to anyone else.

@Peachs Having a computer in your basement with National Security correspondent on it doesn't bother you...

gadem

@Bruno2 @gadem that is not the only thing that disqualifies him, if you think those comments are the only thing. You have not been paying attention.

Bruno2
Bruno2

@gadem @Bruno2 Then why are so many Libs claiming that Trump's 11 year old comments disqualify him for office??

P.S. Eleven years ago, Trump was a Lib himself.  In many ways, he still is.
